  1. The Rose That Grew From Concrete Vol. 1 es un álbum póstumo basado en la poesía del rapero 2Pac lanzado el 17 de octubre de 2000. Éste álbum destaca un largo reparto de celebridades, como Mos Def y dead prez, leyendo poesía y escritura de 2Pac.

    ...Americas' queen of the spoken word, writer, poet, activist and educator Nikki Giovanni re-worked this Tu-Pac classic in 2000 at the age of 57. Previously, the civil rights and black power movements inspired her powerful early poetry of the late 60'S.

    A University distinguished Professor since 1987, Nikki Giovanni has taught writing and literature at Virginia Tech. Giovanni taught the Virginia Tech shooter Seung-Hui Cho in a poetry class, later describing him as "mean" and "menacing".
    In a memorial speech after the massacre she spoke these words of the incident :
    '' We know we did nothing to deserve it. But neither does a child in Africa dying of AIDS. Neither do the invisible children walking the night awake to avoid being captured by a rogue army.
    Neither does the baby elephant watching his community being devastated for ivory. Neither does the Mexican child looking for fresh water''..
