Classics and some curiosities in the history of music.
New Order's fifth studio album, released in January 1989 and their last album released on Factory. Recorded on Ibiza and in Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios. The album adds Balearic Beat and Acid House influences to the band's typical blend of electronic and rock. The cover is another Peter Saville (2)/Trevor Key cooperation, using a garden ornament cherub statue. The first New Order album to reach number one in the UK charts. Several tracks were individually released as singles. An instrumental version of "Vanishing Point" was used on the BBC series Making Out. In 2008 the album was re-released as 2xCD Collector's Edition set, with the bonus disc containing non-album singles, 12" mixes and b-sides.
