Stone Roses - Fools Gold - 1989

  1. The Stone Roses es una banda originaria de Mánchester, Reino Unido, una de las más representativas del movimiento Madchester de finales de los '80. Es uno de los grupos que más influyó a bandas de la escena Britpop en los '90.
"Fools Gold" was heavily influenced by the Dust Brothers-produced Young MC track "Know How", which featured a wah-wah guitar sample from Isaac Hayes' "Theme From Shaft", the break from "Apache" by The Incredible Bongo Band, and a bass line written and performed by Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. The main portion of Mani's bass line is essentially a direct reference to Flea's bass line, only transposed and with the rhythm altered to emphasize the beat in a different way. The lyrics are influenced by the film "The Treasure of the Sierra Madre" and also reference Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots Are Made For Walkin'" and The Velvet Underground's Marquis De Sade-themed song "Venus In Furs".
